Provo's Growth

Provo's growth is a dynamic process. I believe that for our economic outlook to remain viable, our downtown must continue to evolve to create additional economic engines for the city. As a Council Member, it will be my responsibility to be as visionary as I can as we respond to various proposals. It will be my responsibility to listen to, understand and respond to all of the stakeholders and with that information and act appropriately in favor--if the development is a positive force for the general good of all. And alternatively, to hold strong when it isn't.

Provo's Downtown

I really appreciate the efforts of so many to build and create a more viable Downtown. We as a city need to create even more opportunities for a great mix of office, business, restaurant, retail, tourism, and the arts to create a dynamic and thriving center that is utilized for more hours of every day.

As a Council Member, I will be looking to support viable and healthy proposals that will contribute to a vibrant Downtown. I see the development of the Convention Center as a valuable component to providing a healthier economic engine for our downtown businesses.

A Strategic Vision
I would like to see us take a greater strategic vision in how we approach our city's future. We need to develop a stronger direction for the possibilities that exist on the Westside including keeping our trends of more quality in the housing, adding some commercial to create additional sales tax revenues and services and actively seeking ways to maintain open space.

I would hope that our Central Neighborhoods become even more healthy and that we can increase owner occupancy. I would like to prevent the creep of zoning violations and owner-occupancy issues that is steadily spreading out into other areas of our city and threatening our more well-established neighborhoods.

I would love to see intermodal transportation developed because I see an economic benefit to our Downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. I would like to see us succeed in the Arts and the cultural enhancement of our city.

Sherrie Hall Everett has fairly and successfully represented the different points of view of our neighborhood to our city council. She has helped to educate people in this area on current issues and has worked hard to get people involved in the changes that are taking place in this area. She works well with others in a positive manner and has the ability to keep even heated discussions about topics moving forward toward a positive resolution in a respectful way.

Sherrie's talents and vision will be a great asset to our city council. Please vote for Sherrie Hall Everett on November 6th.
